TCC Forest Play Camp
JOIN US for a brand new summer camp experience at TCC: Forest Play Camp! For young ones who would love to spend time purely in the forest, to explore with friends amongst the trees, and to start practicing autonomy, learning to trust their bodies and make their own choices with agency, AND who thrive in a smaller group of similarly- aged young people.
Not sure if your young one is ready for Forest Play? Campers in Forest Play will thrive in this group if they can use the bathroom independently, manage carrying their own backpack (with lunch, water bottle, and a change of clothes), and are eager to separate from caregivers to experience play in the forest with a small, similarly-aged group of friends!
We are a Self-Directed Education community & we emphasize youth-led experiences. Campers will have the lead in planning their journeys at camp with support from adult facilitators!
Camp meets Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Ages 4 - 6+.
COVID-19 precautions: please bring a mask to wear indoors or when physical distancing is not possible. We will provide more guidelines related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic following registration.

PRICING INFORMATION: Making the experience of TCC's summer camp as accessible and equitable as possible is our priority. We are now offering two pricing options aimed at reducing barriers to attendance.
Standard Cost: $290/wk
Discounted Rate: $210/wk
When choosing a ticket price, please thoughtfully consider your household's "personal financial experience" and where you fall on the financial spectrum in terms of your access to resources and financial security. We consider the "Standard Cost” ticket option our standard, market price. The "Discounted Rate" ticket option is a reduced ticket price. A limited number of tickets are available at each price point.
SIMPLY, if your household is financially secure, please select "Standard Cost."
If your household lives paycheck to paycheck, please select "Discounted Rate."
As you select a ticket price, we invite you to evaluate the resources available to you and to consider the following. Does your household:
have financial security, steady earning power, and employment flexibility;
have quality health insurance, reliable transportation, the ability to pay a home mortgage;
have the ability to miss work without penalty, access to reliable childcare, and family support;
enjoy recreational travel, spending on wants vs. necessities, or access to generational wealth;
receive public assistance, carry significant debt, and/or have a large number of dependents;
have limited financial or familial support;
include members of historically marginalized group(s).
Which pricing tier best matches your household's circumstances and resources?
No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please contact us if other pricing options will make the TCC summer camp experience accessible to your household.
THANK YOU FOR APPROACHING YOUR CAMP TICKET SELECTION WITH THOUGHTFUL INTENTION, AND FOR JOINING US IN MAKING TCC'S CAMP EXPERIENCE MORE ACCESSIBLE!

How do you know if your child is ready for FOREST PLAY? Here are some considerations to help determine if FOREST PLAY is a summer camp where your child can THRIVE!
- Does your child use the toilet independently and wash their hands on their own?
- Is your child able to navigate on uneven ground, on grass, mulch, and the forest floor?
- Does your child know and can say their first and last name, and the names of their adult caregivers?
- Can your child manage eating snacks and a full lunch, including drinking from a water bottle, on their own?
- Is your child able to manage carrying a small backpack that includes their lunch, water bottle and extra change of clothes?
- Does your child enjoy playing with other children?
- Is playing outdoors, in wide, open spaces, and in the forest, fun for your child?
- Can your child manage a day outdoors in the summer?
- How does your child feel around bugs? Farm animals? Dirt? Mud?
- Does your child usually stay with the group? Do they generally want to be with other children?
- Is your child able to express themselves to be understood by others and to get their needs met?
- Does your child have capacity to follow safety directions, e.g., "Please wait," "Let's stay together," "We wash our hands before we eat," and so on?
- Does your child have interest, enthusiasm, and the stamina needed for attending an outdoor summer camp for five consecutive days?
- How do goodbyes go between you and your child? How do you imagine drop-off and pick-up going for them and for you? Can your child separate from a caregiver for drop-off without getting overly upset?
-How does your child adjust to a variety of temperatures and weather? Rain, mud, wind, 85+ degrees F. (We follow safety precautions in extreme temperatures and winds)
